Established in 1977 by James and Pauline Shetliffe as Jim's DIY, the company started selling DIY and hardware items out of a single shop. As the business grew, sons Robert and David joined and the name was aptly changed to Jim's & Sons, eventually shortening this to Jimsons. With fresh blood brought fresh ideas and carpets were swiftly incorporated. Soon accounting for the majority of sales, in 2023, Jimsons decided to drop hardware and focus on the carpet side of their business.
In 2020 Harry and Charles, the third generation, set up their own flooring company, Capital Flooring. Capital Flooring quickly formed a loyal customer base and expanded in to blinds, changing the name to Capital Flooring & Blinds.
In 2024, with Jimsons and Capital Flooring & Blinds both ambitiously expanding, they decided to merge the companies, taking on the name of the latter. Since this the shop has had a brand new refurbishment and business is continuing to flourish.
